E-business model in schools of India ...possible???

Education in India has a history stretching back to ancient urban centres of learning at Taxila and Nalanda. The western education came into picture when British were ruling India. After Independence with some slight changes the British educational system solidified in India which has primary, secondary, tertiary centres for education. India have both government and private schools because of poor quality of government education the private held schools are more popular as it provides good quality education.

Private schools education in India is costly as compare to government schools but there popularity in very high as they give superior results in studies and offer extra-curricular activities such as science fairs, general knowledge, sports music and drama. Most teachers in the Private school are experienced and professional. The competition in the school market is very Intense and profitable. Even the poorest often go to the private schools despite the fact that government schools are free. A study found that around 65% of school children in Hyderabad’s slums attend private schools (Times of India)

Private schools is a very profitable business and had a very high competition with other Private and government schools to remain in the top most list they take out extra hours classes, give a lot of home work, believe in quality education, morning to evening session with little break which ultimately student has to suffer, because in India those schools remain in the top or known as good witch have high quality education and high quality Results in the Boards exams.

Due to this high competition lot of pressure is faced by the students and which leads to over weight school bags which consist of books, notebooks and stationery. In India the schools usually have 7 to 8 classes per day which means that they have to take all the books ,copies and home work notes with them which lead to a heavy weight bags which is getting a serious problem in educational system, it has been seen that10 years aged students carrying more then 4 kg of bags which can lead to dislocation of shoulders and lethargy in students. Dr. Sachitananda Kamath who is a National secretary of the child disability group of the IAP in India told that LKG students usually carry a bag which weight around four kilograms which is equivalent to an adult carrying a cement bag. Indian academy of paediatrics based on their studies told that the weight of the student bag should not exceed 1/10 of the child’s weight otherwise the child can face a severe health problems, Seeing as a big problem Indian high court in 2004 with the state humans Rights commission recommended that the Educational department take steps to reduce the school bags, But its really sad that after 5 years of the judicial orders things are not changed.

Problems with having heavy weight school bags

The school bag is not carried out by students properly as they some times wear the school bags incorrectly which can lead to shoulder pain, spinal pain which ultimately leads to chronic back pain which is more seen during puberty stage as at that time the bones of the child is growing , this can result to spinal and postural deformities. The heavy bags can also cause lethargy in children as they need much energy to take these school bags .In extreme cases it can lead to dizziness, chest pain and voice disorder in children. Dr Karan who is an Orthopedicine in India told an interview taken by Times of India (news paper) that lot of new younger patients are coming with him with the back pain and one of the reasons is heavy weight school bags.

Internet usage in India

The internet service is supplied by many companies in India like Tata Indicom, Airtel, BSNL, MTNL etc, As INDIA is a developing and fast growing economy and it is also one of the fastest growing major telecom markets in the world. It is seen that the internet usage is growing as a speed of 20 % per year it is become necessarily to have broadband connection and usage to have an Internet connection at home is cheap like in 300-400 rs per month you can have high broad band internet connection .In most private schools computer education is started in very early classes so the students are aware and have basic computer knowledge when they reach at age 8.. 10 years. The Private schools charge very high as compared to government schools in India so those students take admission in Private schools who can afford the cost of studies in those schools, so for the child health and parents will not mind to spend some extra money on internet and on computer.

Use of e-business in the schools

Private schools are a profitable business and many schools in India in major cities have major funds to do some innovative things to be head in the competition with each other. My personal idea is that if this school bag system can take a internet education system in which major course material, teacher lecture notes, home work, assignments can be finished on there computer at home or in schools which will help students not to carry all the books and other stuffs and can do the same quality things.

The idea is to use e-business in the school this will help the students who carry homework on daily basis to the school. They can now finish the homework on there computer at there home and can send it via e mail to the respective course teacher. The school will have there website in which the student can go to its respective class link can see there home work and other important information, can finish it online and can send the copy to its teachers. The student will be given a user name and password which will help him to maintain its privacy. Parents can also see the student homework or class marks or next classes other information which sometimes students tend to hide from them.

Business model of the organization before and after

The school business idea model starts from the retaining and increase in admissions of students so that it can generate revenue which can be used for hiring of good teachers and professors, development of infrastructure like school building, grounds etc and try some more methods of innovative learning like students tours, camps, competitions, new sports or increase in variety of sports in, have cultural and sports week in college.

This overall method of education improves the child education which improves overall personality of the students and gives good board exams results .This all lead to satisfaction of children’s and parents and ultimately increase brand image and reputation of the school which help in retaining and taking new admissions so that revenue can be increased.

My idea is that if schools can do innovative learning like internet based studies say 60% of there education which will lead to increase in the quality of the education which will help students to score high in exams, parents and child satisfaction level with increased as they can find themselves away from heavy school bag tensions and these all thing will develop a reputation of the college which will lead to generation of revenue and this new development will add value for the system. As the world is growing in technology people are making life easier and simpler by using it. This technology can be easily used in education to give a more value and take away old way of teaching.

Value of using E-business in school

This new education system will give a great value to the school; the students will feel comfortable in avoiding the heavy school bags and which will be beneficial for the child health. The parents can be aware of the student progress through the school website and can directly see the comments from the teacher and can even send the teachers a mail and can know the student progress.
The school can update extra information to the students like what important things they want to bring to the school for the next classes. All the information will be track easily by students, if students have missed some class he can see the lecture notes directly on the internet and can use them.

Conclusion

This new internet based education idea will grow soon in India and will be very effective it will really change the Indian education system which is still the same after independence. This e-business will create a new way of learning. My idea is to start 60% of the internet usage based studies not 100% because the old method has got its own advantages like in the class group studies lead to more development of the child and more internet usage can also put a bad effect on eyes of children’s and child can easily deviate while sitting on the internet to see some extra things like songs, movies or chatting, so if a new way of education can be created in which both these things can be merge together which can give a new and effective way of learning to the students.

Pfizer in my words

“Working for an healthier world”-- PFIZER

It’s the world’s largest research based biomedical and pharmaceutical company. Its rank was number one in the world in sales. The company is based in New York City, and its research headquarters is in Groton (Connecticut). Pfizer is named after German-American cousins Charles Pfizer and Charles Erhardt.

They have 89,000 employees in more than 100 countries. They top the chart in human medicines and vetinery medicines and vaccines. Pfizer has $48.4 billion revenue, which in turn makes the world’s largest pharmaceutical company. They have approximately spent $7.6 billion in research and development.

Pfizer produces the number-one selling drug Lipitor (atorvastatin), used to lower blood cholesterol; the neuropathic pain/fibromyalgia drug Lyrica (pregabalin), the oral antifungal medication Diflucan (fluconazole), the long-acting antibiotic Zithromax (azithromycin), the well-known erectile dysfunction drug Viagra (sildenafil citrate), and the anti inflammatory Celebrex (celecoxib) also known as Celebra in some countries outside USA and Canada, mainly in South America. The best thing about Pfizer is that they are innovative and have a good research and development team. They had developed penicillin which was a miracle; it was the turning point in human history to fight against bacterial infections. Later on, they developed tetracycline which is a broad spectrum antibiotic.

With the help of their information system they discovered Viagra which is a penile erectile drug which was initially used for heart disease patient. They have discovered a drug named CHANTIX which is a prescription medicine for people those who want to quit smoking. Also, they have successfully merged with Warner-Lambert and Pharmacia to create the world's fastest-growing major pharmaceutical company, Pfizer continues its mission to become the world's most valued company to patients, customers, colleagues, investors, business partners, and the communities where we work and live.

They have ethical standards for clinical research and they have made it more and more transparent which is good so that people can easily make out what type of clinical research they are doing. They have made a clinical trail disclosure policy in January 2007 in which they had registered every Pfizer sponsored clinical studies in patients on the NIH sponsored website www.clinicalstudyresults.PFIZER is using animal or adult stem cells in its laboratories to help screen new products to help screen new compounds and identify safer and more effective medicines. With compelling evidence from the research, Pfizer has begun to explore accessing drug development technology from leading academic, biotechnology or pharmaceutical partners who also have experience with currently available, human embryonic stem cells lines that meet the highest ethical standards set by leading scientific authorities. Pfizer will only engage in stem cell research projects that meet the highest ethical standards set by leading scientific authorities around the world including the guide lines developed by the national academy of sciences in the USA. Pfizer strongly opposes any clone to human beings.

Pfizer strongly believes in corporate responsibility as they always remain at the forefront of giving something back to the society. They believe that corporate responsibilities can be a source of business innovation. They have collaboration with the World Health Organization’s for the special program for research and training in tropical disease announced in October 2006 to help search for new antiparasitic medicines against deadly disease of the developing world as malaria, Leishmanniasis, African trypanosomiasis, onchocerciasis, schistosomiasis and chagas disease. With aggressive targets virtually across the board they have important research programs underway in atherosclerosis , oncology , diabetes, obesity rheumatoid arthritis, HIV/AIDS, Schizophrenia, Liver disease, and Alzheimer’s, among others. As a result of portfolio of new molecular entities has almost tripled since the beginning of the decade.

Pfizer expects that there phase third portfolio will grow dramatically in next three years. Four new programs advanced into phase 3 in late 2006. These are as follows: Axitnib, a promising new treatment for thyroid cancer.CP- 945,598 to treat obesity and its complications.Sutent for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.Pediatric studies so Zithromax / chloroquine to treat malaria the single greatest killer of children in Africa.

I consider Pfizer to be successful and the secret lives in there method of work. They work on innovation search new medicines, develop new partnership so that they can rise, they are transparent, ethical, they believe in corporate social responsibility their success lies in their future vision and research for new drugs.
